VFL Grand Final - North Ballarat v Northern Bullants
For those interested, the VFL Grand Final is on tonight between the above mentioned teams...
It is being played at Etihad Stadium and will be shown live on ABC HDTV (Digital Channel 20) now, half way through the 2nd term...
Looking forward to watching it, will be interesting to see how the standard compares to SANFL...
I reckon there are a couple of former SANFL players in the game, Brett Goodes (Magpies), Michael Wundke (North Adelaide), Greg Bentley (Sturt), Darren Pfieffer (Norwood), Sam Jacobs (Eagles), Ed Lower (Norwood), Corey Jones (Sturt) and Adam Hartlett (West) are a few that spring to mind.

CAMERON
Cloke's five goals for the Northern Bullants may revitalise a faltering
career with Carlton, but were not enough to prevent North Ballarat from
back-to-back VFL premierships.
After a dour
first half at Etihad Stadium in which Ballarat were unable to take full
advantage of ample scoring shots, the Roosters struck gold in an
eight-goal third quarter that put the result beyond doubt.
The Roosters won 14.7 (91) to 10.8 (68) in front of 14,026 spectators at Etihad Stadium.
Remarkably, it was the first time Ballarat had beaten the Bullants in eight meetings stretching back to 2005.
Cloke's
opportunistic display was a useful end to an ordinary year that started
on the receiving end of an explosion of violence from teammate Setanta
O'hAilpin and ended with a club-imposed suspension for the final
minor-round game against Adelaide.
While numerous Carlton-listed
players apart from Cloke were down for the Bullants, the Roosters
gained a significant ensemble effort from their Kangaroo counterparts.
Corey
Jones has been out of favour for much of the year at North Melbourne,
but he played a significant role, as did young forward Josh Smith and
speedy half-back Cruize Garlett, who spent some time opposed to his
cousin Jeffrey Garlett.
Kangaroos rookie Marcus White also
excelled, shutting down Bullants prime mover and Carlton talent Chris
Yarran while also venturing forward to kick one of the third term goals
and contribute to the match-clinching rush.
Roosters big man
Orren Stephenson played a vital role in the victory, always lurking a
kick behind the play to foil many attacking thrusts, and was rewarded
with best-afield honours.
Smith's effort maintained an
exceptional finish to the season in which he forced his way back into
the Kangaroos' team for the final two rounds of the season, kicking two
goals and playing a significant role in their stirring round 22 win
over Port Adelaide.
His emergence from a background of personal
tragedy - both Smith's brothers died young - adds to the appreciation
of his efforts.
The first half was best-termed an arm wrestle,
neither side able to break significantly clear though North Ballarat
may have with some straighter kicking.
The Bullants offered some
early fight as the game opened up significantly in the third, but the
Roosters were producing an admirably even performance not unlike those
often produced by North Melbourne.
Jones and Smith were in everything across the quarter, and the game was soon bolting away from the Bullants.
