OK, so us Blues boys are a bit biased, but how do you think he will go?
We (SA) haven't had such a high profile draft pick since Gibbs went to Carlton.
The comparisons between them are valid I think.
Melbourne are making all the big deal noises about him an Scully in giving them icon jumper numbers. I think too it is part of the sell in getting them to think lie one club players and that the next wave of Demon success will be most certainly centred around the pair of them.
They're even part of the Melbourne membership push.
Again I'm biased, but I think young Trenners will be as big as Judd, Ablett and co. in about 3 or 4 years.
Reckon I might just have support Melbourne now, just to watch Trenners.
Any thoughts?

I think he will make a big impact in the AFL. He is ready made and will slot straight into there side, just not sure on any success for the club as I think they are really strugling off field as far as members, training facilities and MONEY goes.

I thought their web site mentioned a reasonable profit from this year.
Still they may not have the same resources as say a Collingwood.

Re: Jack Trengove
I think he will be a very good player , not sure about Judd status though . Easy Chambo , not too many Judds come along but he does have some attributes that will make him a very good player , better than Gibbs IMO .

Re: Jack Trengove
The thing that separates the Judd / Ablett types from the rest, is their decision making and judgement in where to be to get the ball and where to put it.
Yes early days, but Trenners has that ability.
I guess it is a big prediction, but I reckon he will be what he wants to be.

For my 2 BOB`S worth Trengrove is a long way behind GIBBS
his ability will be equivalent to RYAN GRIFFEN who is a very good player

We will have to disagree one this one Scorpian.
I would put him at least on par with Gibbs.
The rest will be up to young Jack.
Having had the privilege of watching 13 games of his in 2009, I am excited for his future.
I will be watching the Dees pretty closely from now on.

Re: Jack Trengove
I am certainly not going to knock the young fellow but being picked up by Melbourne isnt going to make things easy for him and he will have to use all of his ability to stand out playing for them, they have been the easy beats for a number of years now.

A report in todays paper saying he was best player in an internal trial, a good start for the young fellow.

Re: Jack Trengove
Apparently Trenners was named second best in the trial against Essendon.
Was seemingly quiet against Freo last week, but then if Freo beat you by 50 points, then the whole team were probably quiet.

Would think he and Scully would be certainties, barring injury for round 1.
I noted they were both at the top of best players in the paper.
In some strange way, I am excited to watch Melbourne this year.

Could be good pick ups. Are they relatively cheap?

Yes, being new players they were both relatively cheap but they have both showed plenty so I'm willing to have them in my team.

Re: Jack Trengove
Watched Melbourne tonight.
Without Trenners and Scully, they are stuffed.
Whilst Melbourne showed endeavour, their skill level and discipline is pretty ordinary.
They were very lazy in offering these guys much support or something to give off to. Don't reckon their forwards worked hard enough to keep it in the area.
Trenners is a star. No question.
Whilst he is a playmaker, he still chases his man down back.
Made one or two errors late in the game, but he was doing a lot of defensive work.
You gotta like a bloke that keeps working on both parts of his game.
No question he is a Judd / Ablett in the making.
100% certain. Lock it in Eddie.
And Scully was the best man on the ground last night. 18 possessions in the last quarter.
For the possessions the team had, they should have won by 2 or 3 goals.

Re: Jack Trengove
Can anyone explain why 2 18 yr olds would need a rest after 9 rounds?
2 of their most productive midfield options this season.
The Footy Show blokes seemed as non-pussed as myself.
Are Melbourne now tanking the season and going after the top 2 draft picks again next year?
Joke!
Footy is one strange apple these days.

Re: Jack Trengove
The club (Melbourne) said it was always planned to give Scully and Trengove a rest mid-season. I don't have a problem with it, I think they are just managing the load of 2 young lads that have just come into the system.
I think the timing is being questioned as ironic seeing as they are playing Geelong this weekend but the other thing to consider is that the Dees came back from pretty humid conditions in Darwin with some players reported ill after the game due to de-hydration.
