The world cup (Africa)

Post by Firstblood on Sun 13 Jun 2010, 9:17 pm

Just watching the world cup soccer on SBS between Slovakia and Algeria. Sounds like there are a lot of bee hives around the ground Smile

Was it?? i turned it off about 1/2 way through the 2nd half..they didn't show the other 2 goals on the news this morning so i presumed it stayed at 2 - 0 .

Reckon the boys will be home fairly soon.
Watched 2nd half replay today.
Didn't look pretty the way they set up defensively on some of Germany's forward thrusts.

Those bloody horns don't do it for me!

Sounds like 50,000,000 bees buzzing around.

And I heard on the news tonight they won't ban them.

Well guys, only one more sleepless night, then its all over, then maybe they can put Australia's world cup bid back in the shoe box until it spends a few campaigns in the quarter finals, maybe in 2050

Things don't look too good at all and would need a miracle to go through to the next stage.

The Kewell send off looked bollocks to me. I didn't see his arm rise to the ball.

Doesn't have to rise to the ball chambo, the ball hit his arm on the goal line which is deemed a foul. Rules of soccer can be cruel sometimes but its the same for all participants of the game.

Sometimes a ref would let a handball go if deemed as accidental, in this case an Italian referee thought it was deliberate. Being right on the goal line didn't help Kewell's cause, and the red card follows suit... funny game soccer, especially in the world cup, where a team only has to keep drawing to advance to the next stage..in some instances they don't even need to score. Smile

Socceroos showed some zip zap today, but probably lucky to get the win. COuld have been 2 - 2. The offside to Serbia was close and they were challenging hard at the end.

The heavy loss to Germany was their undoing in the end.

Saw England last night, they too showed some spark particularly the first half. Could easily have been 3 - 0. However, they get to play another day.

But who is going to stop Argentina and Brazil?

Next round might put a few competition heavy weights together.
