Gridiron Thread

Post by Strawb on Sun 15 Aug 2010, 11:50 am

Here we go College Football kicks off in under 20 odd days. The NFL is currently playing pre-season I will be informing and posting results of all games for both College and NFL.
Looking at College first
My predictions for to win their conference are
ACC. Clemson
SEC. Alabama
Big XII. Oklahoma U or Texas Tech.
Big 10. Ohio State
Pac 10. USC
In the NFL
The NFC will be a tight race I am going for either Green Bay, Dallas Cowboys or New Orleans
in the AFC The Indianapolis colts or the New England Patriots

I read in today's paper that Indiannapolis are the short-priced favourite to take out the SuperBowl at $8. So why do I feel Conference Final heart-break like so many other seasons?!

Depends on what happens during the season if Manning gets injured the year will hurt the colts.

What a weekend and still have four games to go. Some huge wins by teams. Biggest win was by Oregon over New Mexico 72-0. A few close games and so far one upset. But boredom game of the round North Dakota State def. Kansas 6-3.

Week two of the college football season and it is going to be an interesting week.
Here is a few match ups that I find interesting
Old Rivals meet this week West Virgina Vs. Marshall these two are big instate rivals.
Michigan meets Notre Dame In a big game this week because If Notre Dame win I expect ESPN to go to the Notre Dame vs. Michigan State game the week after.
Texas Tech will meet old border conference Rivals New Mexico. Now New Mexico got thumped last week and hopefully will be more competitive whilst Tech is still learning for coach Tuberville.
Other Big games are these few Stanford Vs. UCLA, Alabama vs. Penn State, Florida State vs. Oklahoma and finally Miami (Fl) will meet Ohio State.
An interesting game is Texas Vs. Wyoming. Texas struggled against Rice but still won but Wyoming had a player die in a Car accident. I am hoping Wyoming get up and beat Texas in memory of their team mate.

What an interesting few weeks of college football. Texas, Alabama both have lost games and these ranked teams have dropped. Alabama lost on the week end to South Carolina.
