Crows recruiting for 2011
Crows recruiting for 2011
My thoughts are that the Crows desperately need a ruckman, along with several other key position players to stem their losses as well as increasing the depth of the side. I would go as far as to say that it seems that the Crows are one of the worst sides in getting results out of trade week as they usually close out the week without having done a trade.
First cab of the rank would be Will Minson from the Bulldogs as Ruckman - ex Norwood South Aussie player, good opportunity for the Crows to play the Come back to SA card and see if they can get him across. With Griffin wanting to be traded home to WA, there is a good chance that the Bulldogs may be interested in a three way trade if they get a good enough player / draft picks.

Griffen has tobe traded yyet and both WA teams are OK in the ruck division I think. But I would certainly look strongly at Giles from Sturt.

Re: Crows recruiting for 2011
It surprises me that Giles is not more highly favoured in the Magarey betting.
I think all in bluebag land are resigned to the fact that he is a goner to the afl.
From what I have seen he relishes the heavy workload and almost demanded that from Normo from day one. Our other 2 ruckmen (Bowen and Kurtze) seem much happier playing second fiddle.
At his age any deficiencies in his game could still be moulded into the complete package.
I do get the impression he is one of these types that needs the confidence and licence from the coach to fulfill the prophecy.
I note that our Centrals brethren here don't rate his work in the same way.
But then he wasn't the #1 ruckman in doggyland.
It will be an offseason muse to see what transpires for the Joffa.

Giles might be lucky enough to be picked up again in SA as a mature-age rookie?
Or would the Gold Coast perhaps calling? If it did he would be mad not to take an offer.

The Cows delisted Jaryn Jacky today.
Isn't it odd how a club can delist a player and maybe end his career and yet its not ok for a player to move on by himself (re Bock)

Different credentials I spose.
Bock was a 'key gold pass member' of the Crows regular 22. Jacky struggled to even play consistently at SANFL level or even break into the Eagles Senior side at times.
Doesn't bother me, as long as they remain in the bottom 8 next year.

Will be interesting to see how Jacky goes for the Eagles if he feels that he has something to prove to the rest of the AFL recruiting staff!

Well he's playing for his professional career now. Sometimes that's just the fire up the bum some people need to show their capabilities.
