Magpies/Power set to merge!!.......

interesting article which is sure to stir emotions, but if this is true it appears the Magpies/Power will merge with the Magpies becoming the Powers reserve team...............from what i hear the afl have/has forced the sanfl hands and regardless of how the other sanfl teams feel about it the merger will happen.......seems strange coz only the start of the season the whole idea was thrown out, it would seem a lot of behind the scenes wheeling and dealing has been going on......

grand final day today BK and I for one couldn't give a **** about the two ports at this moment. one thing I will say though is if the AFL has told the sanfl that it has to happen and it does, then that is the end of this league. the football public of this state has put up with enough crap from that pile of dung running the AFL and leigh whicker and the board of directors should resign immidiately if this is the case. roll on a $150.000 salary cap and a pathetic comp if we bow to them.

I would want to see more of the fine print of what would actually be the model before making to many more comments, yet if it were the case that the Magpies would then immediately tap into the Powers training and development resources I would suggest that would be totally unacceptable and a massive advantage over the other sides in the competition, hence why it was knocked back in the first place.

Tim Ginever has been working pretty hard on this and getting it plenty of support, so ideally it would be good to see him explain how its all going to work before getting to carried away.

The sooner it happens the better, and then bring a Crows reserves team in as well.

Either its done properly or the SANFL could be on a down hill slide.

I don't believe there should be a Crows or Power reserves side in the SANFL its as simple as that.

Today's Grand Final was fantastic even though I don't support either side.
The crowd was great around 35000 & the crowds all year have been very good up around 5% & it may have been more given the fact that the weather was so bad

They claim they will not field the Port Magpies as a reserves side for the Power, according to the ch 9 news.. From what i gather the SANFL do not need permission from the other SANFL clubs to let the amalgamation to go ahead.

if they don't need permission what was the whole thing about earlier this year?

They don;t need permission because the AFL have already given it to them.

It's the SANFL screwing the Power, the Magpies and the Crows with their rubbish, money grabbing Stadium deal. Port Adelaide pumped over $11M into the SANFL coffers last year.

With all their resources the Crows made a loss this year. Obviously they can't manage their books either.

How am I supposed to read it? First you have a sledge a the Power's Financial acumen. Then you ask how much is the SANFL making at Footy Park?

Like it or not (and I don't), the AFL is the biggest show in town. Them who have the Gold, makes the rules.

Them who are killing the league. Mark my words if the AFL isn't careful they will force fans away. I for one who is losing interest big time in the AFL.

on the news tonight it was said that the sanfl commission will approve the merger of the two ports. the local clubs won't even get to see the proposal for another week. can some body out there please explain to me how this can happen? and what is different now compared to earlier in the season when the clubs vetoed the submission. it seems port is again running what happens in SA football with the help of the AFL. sounding like a broken record it's time leigh whicker was sent out to pasture with his AFL mates because he sure doesn't give a toss about the SANFL. if he did he wouldn't be the quiet mouse on SA football matters that he is. so please,someone,in the words of pauline hanson, PLEASE EXPLAIN.
