defunct/merged clubs

thought id start up a bit of a history thread: you can list the historyof clubs who have become defunct or who have merged with other clubs in the same league, as my great grandfather played for port elliot i thought id start with them, as they were also called the bloods and wore red and black so here we go: League: Great Southern Football League

History

Port Elliot was formed in 1881. The 1st Club Captain was J.W.Trigg. Other clubs we played between 1881-1923 was Victor Harbor, Goolwa, Milang, Finnis and various clubs in the Adelaide Hills,Tweedvale (now Lobethal), Woodside, Willunga & Aldinga.

Sarge, did Port Elliott merge with another club or are they now defunct..you didn't say.

What year did this occur.

pt elliott merged with goolwa. not sure what year.

Drove past their oval sunday

They merged with the Goolwa club some years ago and adopted the logo and colours of the Saints - red white black. However this year, they have almost discarded anything to do with the old Port Elliot club, going back to the name of Goolwa Magpies and dropping the red out of their colours.

Bye Bye Port Elliott.

the merger happened at the end of 2000, they are now called pt elliot-goolwa magpies

Why do they need 2 logos?

With all the name, colour and emblem changes, maybe they have an identity crisis. :?:

ones the lincenced venue and the other is the football logo

Trying to be the next Port Adelaide perhaps??

Strange for a footy club to have 2 logos. Which town has there home ground..oh wait let me guess ?
