defunct/merged clubs
thought id start up a bit of a history thread: you can list the historyof clubs who have become defunct or who have merged with other clubs in the same league, as my great grandfather played for port elliot i thought id start with them, as they were also called the bloods and wore red and black so here we go: League: Great Southern Football League

Port Elliot was formed in 1881. The 1st Club Captain was J.W.Trigg. Other clubs we played between 1881-1923 was Victor Harbor, Goolwa, Milang, Finnis and various clubs in the Adelaide Hills,Tweedvale (now Lobethal), Woodside, Willunga & Aldinga.

Sarge, did Port Elliott merge with another club or are they now defunct..you didn't say.

They merged with the Goolwa club some years ago and adopted the logo and colours of the Saints - red white black. However this year, they have almost discarded anything to do with the old Port Elliot club, going back to the name of Goolwa Magpies and dropping the red out of their colours.

the merger happened at the end of 2000, they are now called pt elliot-goolwa magpies
