So was i, standing behind the northern goals with my late father who was a Port supporter. I remember it being a cold, wet and windy day.

Me too - reckon I was 16 at the time. Diabolical day.
Only redeemed by getting a bit of warm fuzzy action later that night!

That was probably South's most dominant year, whilst I have been alive.
Have a recollection of Centrals getting bundled out in straight sets.
Memory struggling a bit.

Probably not one of the more memorable GFs as a spectacle.

Watched this the other day as I transferred it to DVD, South were only 8 points down at half time. But yeah, not a great game of footy. Unless you follow Port of course.

And yeah Central were minor premiers, thumped by Port in the 2nd semi and lost narrowly to South in the Prelim.

both my brothers in law rang me later that night, both Port supporters, as soon as they spoke I told them to "truck off" then slammed the phone down

I was at another great game that day, the VFL grand final between Carlton & Collingwood, the game where Wayne Harmes knocked the ball back in play from just outside the boundary line which resulted in a goal--Loved every minute of it.

I have taken a liking to South because they are a struggling club, in all honesty when and if do you see South challenging for a flag again and when was their last finals performance? Cheers, Ive never been to a SANFL game as i live here in the West but want to get behind the SANFL because like WAFL the AFL want to get their grubby little hands on our heritage and im dead against that!

South are very much the best side to go with in the SANFL I agree!

We have a new Senior Coach Ron Fuller who is in his second year and is working toward a five year plan - that is what he laid out to the club when they interviewed him, South have improved this season and I do think its reasonable to expect that we will continue to improve as various things are put in place. Much work is happening toward the local clubs that feed into our club as well as gaining decent recruits to strengthen our side. Its been a very long time between drinks, yet I do think we are on the right track at present unlike three years ago!

souths last premiership was 1964 last finals appearence was 2006 which was the first time since 1992. Westies are also a club on the up after making the finals in 98 (3rd) 2001&02 (5th) 2003(2nd) 2004(5th) we finished bottom from 2005-2008, 09&2010 (6th) and currently 4th this year after a promising start we were 1st after the first 5 games have dropped a couple since then though
