Adelaide vs Brisbane Review

Post by Ben W on Sun 29 May 2011, 4:41 pm

Adelaide 8.13.61
Brisbane 15.11.101

Not sure if Jonothon Brown being in Brisbane's side lifts them to wrecking ball status for the Crows, or if the Crows just played an absolute shocker today. To get thumped like that by a bottom side on your home deck is inexcusable form. Will be interesting to see how Trigg and Craig respond to the media this week.

Think Voss might have quietly breathed a sigh of relief as well after that performance. Despite their position, Brisbane have some good players on their list and the capacity to play much better than what they have been.

Adelaide however have a list that is getting on the "thin" side many - good, fair and average players, few superstars along the lines of Brown that can take a game apart. Think the Crows are paying a heavy price for not having done a lot in trading weeks in the last five seasons. You have to trade good players to get good players and until the Crows change their mindset and realise that they have to move good players on to get good players in return its likely not to change in the near future.

Bassett took Norwood from bottom to top of the ladder, Norwood got absolutely smashed in the draft and yet Bass has them playing some very good footy and winning games.

Its obvious that the Crows need to "rebuild" and over time trade for some high calibre players. Whilst names like Malthouse and Roos will be mentioned I don't think that either of them will take the job. Bassett on the other hand could well be the right person to rebuild the Crows as he has Norwood.
