Good to see Port Melbourne - Coached by Gary Ayres on top of the ladder - bear in mind that they have no allocated AFL players in their side and retain their tradition as a club - Its been discussed before that they may have interest in going there own way and joining the SANFL, although that seems to have gone quiet in recent years!

That 'tradition' was tainted for a little while there Ben. They we're Sydney Swans feeder side for a while (because Plugga made his miraculous comeback with them) and then we're allocated to North Melb for a year or two. It's a pity that some clubs are affiliated with AFL ones, but without them, many of these VFL clubs would cease to exist.

Re: VFL ladder after round 12
OK I will say what some might be thinking.
With the resources available to Geelong and more so, Collingwood, is it odd that they are toward the bottom of the table?
The consiracy theorist in me wonders whether those clubs take this competition completely fair dinkum.
It would be a sad indictment on the VFL competition, if their focus was mainly to feed the AFL beast.
I would have thought that Collingwood's expansive resources would have seen them higher up the table.
In this new age, where does resting players and sending them to high altitude camp fit within the context of the role of their reserves team?
I guess they are breaking new ground in this area, but the competitive worth of their side in the VFL one has to wonder about.

Re: VFL ladder after round 12
Maybe the WAFL and SANFL should buck the AFL and have our own mini national league played at local grounds..the teams with the byes play each other, do away with the who cares cup (Foxtel Cup) and at the finish play the leagues Champion GF after our respective GF`s, This week for instance would see West Perth v The Eagles, perhaps at Wodville Oval, would be a cracking game too i reckon!
