Re: Strawb's American Sports Topic.
So Strawb my good man. What is your opinion on the NBA stalemate?
It can't be a good thing for the players to be holding out for a few extra bucks, even if the principles are worthwhile.
If the game suffers (and I recokon we at or close to that point), as a result then I think both parties need to consider the facts of life.
Just shows you what a business the whole pro-american sport scene is.
And we think the afl is a meat market devoid of club and personal loyalties?
From a very distant shore, I hope it gets sorted very soon and the game is back on schedule asap.

The AFL will end up like the NBA. players wanting more. Problem is the players want more cash and the team owners don't have the cash. The teams want to make the money 50/50 but the players want it 52.5/47.5 in the players favour.

When the new TV deal was signed all clubs bar one got a piece of the pie. Collingwood and Essendon got around one million each and other clubs got a piece of the pie. Geelong didn't get any and Brian Cook asked why? At the moment I think the AFL salary cap is around 8 million.

Re: Strawb's American Sports Topic.
Well my 49ers surprised everyone and almost made it to the Superbowl final after leading early on and succumbing in the sudden death extra time.
So it will be the Giants v Patriots on Feb 5.
An all East Coast affair both finishing first in their divisions.
