WAFL Rd 19
Tommorow sees Swans take on East Freo up in Karratha and with a few experienced campaigners back including skipper Josh Roberts Swans are a realistic chance to get some pride back and beat the Sharks. With fine weather up north and Perth being tipped for a wet and windy day its going to help the Swans multi pronged attack so thankfully its up there.
Other games Perth v Sth Freo at Lathlain Tip = Perth by 11pts
Peel v Subi at Mandurah Tip = Peel by 9 pts
Claremont v East Perth at Claremont Tip = Claremont by 33 pts
And Swans by 27pts (my heart not my head!) lol

Re: WAFL Rd 19
Swandog, I have never had a WA team.
Used to be a Hawks man back in the VFL days.
And when Motley, Bradley, Naley and Kernahan went to Carlton I had a soft spot for them.
When Adelaide came in to the AFL went that way.
When Port came in to the AFL, went that way (due to where I live).
But now don't really give a stuff about the afl.
Happy to remain a Double Blue man and support the sanfl.
Like the question you posed here about who is working class / toffy suburbs in the sanfl, what are the similar attributes in the WAFL?
Maybe I need to find a WA side to widen my interest??
Suggestions?

Re: WAFL Rd 19
The working class clubs here are Swan Districts (eastern Suburbs), West Perth and Perth. Toffy nosed = Claremont even though their facilities are worst in the comp, Subi who have shelled out under the table $ and rorted the cap to buy there recent success this decade, South Fremantle and East Fremantle are more working class than not... Peel and East Perth are just ferrals most of them probably dont even work! lol
Im a Hawks man in the AFL and have been ever since i started following the game and didnt change just because of the weagles and shockers..although Swan Districts and WAFL footy is number one for me.
I did however go to watch the hawks shellack freo tonite as SD were up north v East Freo and glad i didnt fly up as we got walloped 3rd week in a row by 104pts! At least South Adelaide got up v Glenelg and i had a bit of a listen to that while i was a neutral sitting at lathlain park watching Perth v South Freo..for the record South b Perth, Claremont b East Perth and Subi b Peel, so the top 4 is probably settled now with only Subi a realistic chance of displacing East Freo.
Pick Swans as we are looking to 2012 already, we have been ravaged by injuries and ilness this year and will be back up there next year, in fact pre season dates etc have already been set etc. Otherwise get on West Perth (my second team) as they always give an honest effort and are flag favs this year.
Just dont pick The Ferrals!! haha (East Perth who are the Royals)

You want to get on East Fremantle Chambo - just have a look at the job we did on Swan Districts!
Clearly its hard to just pick a side, yet Peel thunder have not won a flag as yet, so could likely enjoy underdog status- Good side to follow if you like to read Thor comics or watch the movies!

Chambo, if you want to support a WA club, East Perth is the ONLY club! Carn the Ferrals (oops, I mean Royals!)!!

Soft spot for East Perth only because their colours are closest to Sturt.
Been doing the WAFL tipping on footytips.com.au this year. Fluked 4/4 this weekend.

7 flags mate, but they are in a long drought as they havnt tasted success since 1977, they won in 1907,1955, 66/67/68 and 76/77 and havnt made the finals since 1997, they are the South Adelaide of the comp..thats why i have chosen to like South so that when they have success one day it will be special

They play Subiaco tommorow away from home in a tough game that i dont expect them to win as they are pretty much done now after last weeks loss..but i hope they get up as Subi are my second most hated club after East Perth

Its the ABC game too so you may be able to watch some highlights on the web...i read in our local today that the ABC may can the coverage of WAFL/SANFL/VFL footy next year, has it recieved much news in SA?
If we lose that its going to really effect the WAFL as regional and rural fans rely on it with WA being the largest state

There's talk over here Swandog of the possibility the ABC will also can the televising of live SANFL games... there's a bit of a protest going on here. My club (West Adelaide) is having some photo's taken at the club with some die hard West supporters for our local Messenger newspaper on Monday night at the club at 5pm.

Re: WAFL Rd 19
There is an article in today's Advertiser regarding next year's coverage of the SANFL on the ABC next year. They are saying no decision has been made. It will be a shame after 48 years of being covered on tv, especially for a lot of older people and country folk.
