WAFL Rd24
The season finished in an anticlimactic fashion today $ubi def Peel (9th) by 68pts to finish 3rd, Perth (6th) def Swans (8th) by 5pts after trailing by 6 goals at 1 stage, ladder possies not changed, a season to forget for the mighty black and whites. Claremont (Minor premiers) def East Perth (7th) by 26pts but looked tired apparantly and havnt had a week off yet because of the Foxtel Cup, and in the Elimination Derby South Freo (4th) def East Freo (5th) at Freo oval by 36pts and never looked like losing.
This sets up a 1st Semi $ubiaco v South Frem at Leederville oval and 2nd Semi Claremont v West Perth at Claremont oval next Sunday arvo.
My bold tips 8days out are West Perth by 14pts and South Frem by 8pts. My long term tip is Claremont to go out in straight sets and West Perth to def South Freo in the GF by 21pts.
Lets see how close i get and anyone else put your tips in and we will see how we all go!

I got 4 again
Wow Claremont get a final at home? Don't think the SANFL would ever give Central a final at Elizabeth, Norwood at Norwood etc.....
Claremont and South Fremantle for me.

4 again!! Thats better than most WAFL tipsters here, yeh we started home finals in 2007 and it has worked a treat, much better having a big crowd at a local ground than have 7-10,000 in at Subiaco and the place is void of atmosphere. For example last year we (Swans) hosted the Prelim final and got 11,500 in which made for a packed crowd at Bassendean like the old days, put that crowd in at Subi and it would look like an empty stadium.
The Grand Final however is at Subiaco and last year we got 25,000, mostly Swans fans. If East Perth were playing us instead of Claremont it would have got 35,000.
Where do you play your finals? All at Footy Park? Or Adelaide oval?
I saw the Port v Melb game on tele today and it looked like a ripper atmosphere at Adelaide oval and i reckon that will start the revival of Port Power

Re: WAFL Rd24
All Finals are being played at Footy Park again in 2011.
We had been using Adelaide Oval for the early finals matches and then West Lakes for the GF, but with all the construction and upgrading going on last year at Adel Oval the SANFL moved to West Lakes instead, and have stayed there this again year
We play double headers for first 2 weeks of finals so spectators get to watch both finals for the price of one entrance fee.
Reserves & U18s playing together at a ground elsewhere.
Then for Prelim & Grand Final, the 18s, Reserves and League all play at Footy Park, with 18s starting from about 9am.

Ok thanks for that. We went down that path of double header finals at Subi Oval a few years back but it just didnt work, and the early game always suffered, plus the crowds were a spec in such a big stadium,i think the way we have it now is the best way.
Just curious what crowds have the SANFL pulled the past two years to all finals?

Week 3 (Prelim) 8342

Swandog, Footy park looks terrible with 12 to 13 thousand peole there. It holds just over 50,000 and like Subi, not a good look, the place is all but empty. I don't know why the SANFL won't try a neutral suburban oval for the minor finals it would be a much better atmosphere and look great especially for people watching on tv.

Agreed. In fact, I think I wrote about unused suburban grounds as neutral venues as a post either here or on bloodntars.com.
But this year, who knows with the 2 AFL teams doing bugga all, it may attract a couple of thousand extra bandwagoners to the SANFL finals series.

And yet Weslo enforce the no standing zones to the nth degree and make sure you're sitting down to drink your beer. God forbid you spill some at $6.50+ a pint.
So all of those thousands of people standing in front of the scoreboard at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.
Did Weslo catch anyone spilling a drop?
Did they have lids on their cups?
Did they sit down on the grass to drink?
Neigh on all counts I expect.
So what the flippin' frisbees is the difference?
AAMI should have signs at the gate so when you buy your ticket you know where to go;
IE: "Drink like a man section" and "Drink like a girl section"
However the sanfl finals will still look like Vegetarian Conference at the Coloseum.
Can somebody give the North Koreans the coordinates of AAMI please.
Even when Adelaide Oval is empty the sheer beauty of the place and its surrounding vistas carries it through.
But they reckon the beer was $7.50 on Sunday. Managia Miseria! That is a bit ugly even for a nice view.
OK Rant over!
