Fremantle
Re: Fremantle
Really ? That is poor form if that does occur by Lyon and Freo.

Re: Fremantle
Just a business, just a business!
I am waiting for when they offer money to the public to become supporters. Or incentive packages to become members.
Honestly what does supporting an AFL club stand for?
Players and coaches get routinely shafted. PLayers and coaches routinely take the money and run - and why wouldn't you when this stuff happens.
Then the privileged exhalted ones receive obscene pay checks to defect.
Lyon must have been offered the Governor of WA's residence to head over there.
If you have a set of scales in front of you, would Fremantle be ahead of St Kilda in their 2012 premiership aspirations? Could be a close call, but I guess you go for a happy pay check.
You can't sack a coach and announce the successor on the same day without shinanagins being played out behind the scenes. I guess Harvey gets paid out, but you would have to feel like you've been shafted surely?
Would you have respect for the businessmen that do deals in this way?
Lucky they aren't in the "real" business world. Wouldn't last long before they are outed. Would anyone trust the Fremantle CEO and management to deal honestly, openly and fairly?
AFL = Just a business, nothing more and not even on a level playing field.
I doubt that I will ever support and AFL club again.

Re: Fremantle
It is a business and has been for years but if true the hapenings behind scenes is disgrace and just lowers opinions of people of these people. Another case in point is James Hird. Business in the sense is fine but this behaviour is blatant lying and playing people for fools , that's beyond business .

Re: Fremantle
Yes that was the main point I was trying to make.
You can play hard and play the ball in the business world, but you must approach your dealings honestly. Credibility can be lost very quickly if not.
But for this to unfold as it has, very back door tactics have been employed.
Lyon's manager (who apparently is also Harvey's manager) did not even know and has walked away from managing him.
If you are going to do your own thing, why do you need a manager?
Lyon is going to look very two-faced from here on.
The Dockers management certainly is at the mercy of whatever bad karma it gets in the business world from here on. Would sponsors look all that favourably on dealings like this?
What you can do to a coach you can do to a mjor sponsor - precedent has been set now.
And as far as St Kilda is concerned, well Lyon hasn't treated them with any integrity at all. They now face an uphill battle to re-group quickly and look to who is available as the successor.
Frankly I hope the Dockers finish last next season - they deserve it!

Re: Fremantle
A disgraceful deed by both the Dockers and Ross Lyon. Mark Harvey stabbed from behind and the Saints left in the lurch when they would have least expected it.
Nothing surprises me in the goings on at any football club anymore, Too many primma donnas with huge egos that usually get in the way of what they should be doing.

Re: Fremantle
No tears for me for St Kilda, consdering everything that has gone on in the off season with the whole St Kilda schoolgirl scenario and the reasons why legal action has never been taken against the girl over "false" allegations, suggests to me that they had it coming in one form or another, even just down to the discipline issues that occurred in the off season at the NZ trip, something is very much off at that club and its no surprise that its being deserted like rats leaving a sinking ship.
Interestingly though Mark Harvey could now be on the radar of the Bulldogs and the Crows, should help the Advertiser get a few more sales anyway!

Re: Fremantle
after what Lyon and Freo did it is a huge disgrace. Craig Kelly dropped Lyon as a client. Craig Kelly was talking to St. Kilda about extending Lyon's contract and Lyon went and did this. Craig Kelly is also Mark Harvey's manager. I don't think Ross Lyon is worth 1 million a season. Freo have screwed up royally. Ross Lyon has not won a premiership he had three chances with one of the best sides going around and couldn't get one.
