From a Glenelg perspective: We have 4 X Friday nights.

It makes it a tad difficult for Reserves players and support staff who rely on their bosses allowing them them time off Friday afternoons. I have to take them as rec leave days

I think the advantage Glenelg will have with their lights, like Norwood do, is that the Bay is a smaller oval. Elizabeth is a bigger oval but as you say, they have upgraded the 'lux output' and have 3 night games at the Ponderosa in 2012.

The first round consists of the 3 clubs playing in the Foxtel cup and this may have something to do with the first round being as it is, these 3 clubs get there byes at the times they are to play in the Foxtel cup.

Glenelg have 2 byes in a row as well - Rnds 15 & 16. It just means we'll probaly end up playing a scratch match. At least ours are mid-season, so may give any guys with niggly injuries a bit of a break I suppose

North as well, Rounds 14 & 15, nearly 3 weeks without playing !

And even better, we play Central last game of the year @ Elizabeth AGAIN !

Really fair again ! scratch

proves what a joke the foxtel cup is if it compromises our local comp dont you think?

Let me say I don't like the foxtel cup, BUT, it hasn't compromised the SANFL, all finalists of the SANFL this year didn't play in the foxtel cup, I would sooner my club take advantage of the bye's and rest, like all clubs that aren't taking part in it.

I dont care who did or didn't play finals testy, what I was alluding to was that the sanfl is again bowing to the AFL with programming just to suit their agenda which is to keep foxtel happy. they couldn't give a rats about the public who would love to watch their teams kick off on the same weekend in the first round.

Sturt have 2 byes in the first 4 rounds.
Not the most helpful start for a bottom club trying to maintain and push for members.
However, in opposition to that thinking, we had record membership in 2011 all the same.

Irrespective of the Foxtel Cup, I would have thought having 8 teams involved in sanfl games in round 1 is the best way to announce the start of a new footy season.

Apparently not.

What's done is done. Now it is up to all 9 clubs to be up for the challenge of the draw. Bring on 2012.

Go Bloods.

who ever worked out this draw needs their head read. Is it that hard to do a home and away series? I personally think the SANFL has stuffed up royally in making this draw.
