Weather permitting will get a great crowd but if the SANFL are so keen on maximising crowds why play West , with all due respect.

I know the lighting wasn't confirmed but that is irrelevant as they still had to schedule a game and they knew it was aways a chance of the lights going ahead.

Are you implying that West should be excluded from night games at the bay oval Sturt2 ?

Why not question why South are playing West under lights in round 1 ?

No mate . Talking about maximising crowds and I think to maximise the crowd they should play a team that attracts more of a crowd - only for their first game under lights.

Obviously have no idea of the hatred and rivalry between us and the Bays.

What is the maximum the ground can hold, 15K? As HTWWW points out there is a strong rivalry between the Bloods and the Tigers, Considering that the Bays have had a huge upheavel over the summer I suggest that many WAFC will be confident that they can take them and will likely turn up to encourage their lads to do that to them on the opening night of the lights! - Much like how the Bays rained on the SAFC parade when Noarlunga was first opened!

With all respect here , would anyone think that West V Glenelg for the first game under lights at the Bay draw more than Glenelg V Sturt/Norwood /Port/ mmaybe even North ?

I have no doubt West fans will go , that's not my point . It could be a more a case of bay fans not showing !

Would have to go check, but I think the recent record attendance at Glenelg was for a Sturt Glenelg match when the Crows had the bye!

It will be the first chance many Glenelg fans have had to say "Welcome back to the Bay Oval", "Sorry you left" or just "Gidday", to Mark Mickan again.

Good weather should attract plenty of neutral supporters to come out even if just for the novelty factor (I did for Westies first night game).

With the zones in close proximity to each other, people who have other sporting committments during the afternoon, can still make it in time for the League match.

Also there is also the fact it's Glenelg's first official match for 2012, so will GFC people should be coming out just to see our new look team for 2012.
