Great news for Westies. I wish him the best of luck. He deserves the opportunity to get back involved in SANFL

How does Andy Collins feel about this move? A more successful senior coach with current experience and someone who is one of the clubs favourite sons?

Appointing a favourite son is a VERY dangerous move IMO - I just have to think of how Mr S Rhen f**ked our club along with another at the time.
Mickan has said that he wants a position 'above' coaching, however I think if Collo wasn't getting the results we were after at a certain point in time, Mark would be asked to fill the hot seat in the interim.
Andy knows himself it's deep into the finals or bust this year. Mark will be assisting him somehow, even if not in a coaching capacity. It could actually become a very good team if it all works.

Re: Mark Mickan back at the Bloods
I think this is one of the best appointments West have ever made. Mark is a favourite son of the Bloods. He's a multiple best and fairest member and a West Adelaide Hall of Famer.
I also don't think this has anything to do with coaching, but is a much longer term appointment. I'm confident Andy Collins will see some success this year. We've lost 2 good players, Silvester and Morris, but have gained at least 5 recruits of league standard.
Welcome, Mark, it's fantastic to see you back home.
