Port Adelaide 2012
Port Adelaide 2012
PORT MAGPIES:
IN: Callum Wilson (West Coast Eagles), James Brain (Sydney Reserves), Brendan Ah Chee (Mini Draft – Power), Ben Haren (Sydney / Returning), Ryan Mackenzie (North Ballarat), Cade Wellington (Ocen Grove), Bryan Beinke (Norwood Reserves Coach)
OUT: Terry Milera (St. Kilda), Michael Clinch (North Adelaide), Kerran Hall (North Adelaide), Ivan Maric (Richmond), Matthew Lokan (Retired), Kristian DePasquale (Retired), Isaac Weetra (West), Xavier Watson (South Adelaide).
Seems unusual that 4 players have moved on from the Maggies to try their luck at other opposition sides? Perhaps this has flown under the radar a little with so much attention on Glenelg in this area in recent times.
Tony Bamford is someone I very much rate as an SANFL coach, by most of the SANFL experts reasoning, Port should have been bottom of the ladder last season, yet with minimal recruiting they well and truly punched above their weight last year and gave several fancied SANFL sides more than just a bloody nose when it counted.
Wilson, Brain and Haren are very good signings for the club, some vic players make it, others dont in the SANFL, a 50% strike rate seems about right in this area. No names as yet for local signings of which there may be several as a number from their metro and country zones are training for a place on the league list at present.
Perhaps as it stands Port appear to lose more than they have gained, I should rate them to fall back a spot, but I wont, something just tells me that Port are an up and coming side and will continue to gain momentum in 2012 and will be a very good chance for the five no doubt as a chagrin to many. Would love nothing more than an up and coming Magpies side to get a go at a knockout final against Central, good time for some old scores to be settled one might think!
