Spare balls behind goals

Post by Firstblood on Tue 14 Feb 2012, 1:12 pm

It looks like the SANFL are bringing in the spare ball behind the goals this year, similar to the AFL. I believe they are starting it with the first trial game. Each club is to provide 4 extra balls in special bins behind both ends.
There will also be a ball steward (both ends) in charge of chasing and exchanging balls as they go through the goals / points area.

will be good for the lower grades as balls seem to take forever to get back to the play

Sounds like a good move. Thought it was going to happen when the new kick in rule came into effect - I remember Centrals at the time advertising for ball persons
