With a built-in ADSL interface, USB/Fast Ethernet port and advanced functions, this router gives your business and home a convenient and cost-effective way to install a secure, fast network with bottleneck-free link to the outside world.
• The DSL-502T provides NAT protection for your office and home users from Internet intruders and hacker attacks, plus VPN pass-through for extra security. It blocks and re-directs certain ports to limit the services that outside users can access your network. Virtual Server Mapping is used to re-task services to multiple servers. The DSL-502T can be set to allow separate FTP, Web, and Multiplayer game servers to share the same Internet-visible IP address while still protecting your servers and workstations from hackers.
• You can configure any of the built-in LAN switch ports to function as a DMZ port. A DMZ setting can be applied to a single client (such as a Web server) behind the router to fully expose it to the Internet and ensure complete Internet application compatibility even if the specific port is not known. This allows you to set up web sites and e-commerce business from your office while maintaining protection for the rest of your office LAN.
• Firmware inside the DSL-502T can be upgraded to support new DSL standards, including ADSL2, ADSL2+ and reach extended ADSL2 (RE-ADSL2), providing better speeds, longer distance coverage, reduced power consumption while maintaining ADSL's always-on functionality. This allows you to take advantages of the higher speeds and functions when the new standards become available from your service provider, without changing your existing ADSL hardware or installation.

I had ADSL2 with Chariot and it continuously dropped out to the point where it could not be used at all, various calls were made to Chariot or should I say to TPG who now own them, nothing was ever done to fix the problem, a new modem was bought and made no difference at all. - A call to Adam Internet and a transfer to their ADSL2 plan fixed the problem immediately. Was a change to talk to someone locally and actually get some sense of out what they were trying to say! You may wish to hang on to the modem as the first thing they ask when your ADSL2 drops out is if you can change modems and if that fixes it or not, proves to be a bit difficult if you don't have a spare!
